Could be better November 25, 2007
I bought this for a Christmas gift for my fiance's sister-in-law. I don't like to give too much negative feedback, but this product was a little too high-priced for the quality for me. It was a nice idea, and I originally thought the flaws in the pin were limited to poor photography on the description page. This was not entirely the case. The rose was a little glazed-looking, but otherwise nicely enamelled in purple.
My main complaint is with the leaves, stem, and fastener. The leaves were not, as the description suggests, beautifully colored copper. One leaf was tarnished rainbow, and the other leaves are sort of a dull green-copper tint. The leaf edges were not sharply defined, as I would have liked for them to be, even for leaves dipped in metal. The fastener is not a brilliant metallic color, as I would have liked for it to be.
Like I mentioned previously, this is a nice idea. I think a little more attention needs to be paid to the process of dipping the leaves in copper, and the fastener should be at least polished, if not dipped or coated with a metal plating or finish. The idea has potential to make a nice gift, but if given the chance again, I would not have paid the amount I did for it.
